Canada Games

February 27 - March 14, 2027

The Canada Games Council has named Québec as the official Host city of the 2027 Canada Winter Games, marking a return to the birthplace of the Canada Games 60 years after the inaugural event held in 1967. From February 27 - March 14, the province of Quebec will host the Canada Games for a fourth time, after previously hosting the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, the 1983 Canada Winter Games in Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, and the first-ever Canada Games in Québec in 1967.

Fencing has been on the Canada Games program multiple times, taking place from 1991 until 2003, with an appearance in 2013, and a return to the program in 2023. Based around the traditional skills of swordsmanship, fencing is a sport with deep history, featuring on the Olympic program since 1896. Women’s foil made its debut in 1924. Canada has finished fourth in Olympic fencing on two occasions.

In February 2027, the Canada Games will take place Quebec City. The BCFA will be sending a team of 6 athletes (aged 17 and below), plus one coach and one manager. Qualifying Criteria will be finalized and released shortly. If any coaches or potential athletes have any questions please contact us at info@bcfencingassociation.com.
